Mitsui will market Sinclair ZX81 model
Mitsui & Co. will market ultra small personal
computers of Britain's Sinclair Research in Japan using, the
mail order method from late this month. The ZX81
model, measuring 167 x 175 x 40 millimeters and weighing 350
grams, will sell for ¥38,700, about one-fifth to one-tenth
of personal computers now on the market.
Though the memory capacity is limited to 1
kilobyte (RAM) compared to 16-24 kilobytes for ordinary personal
computers, the ZX81 is suited for beginners to learn the BASIC
computer language, the Tokyo trading company said.
Mitsui hopes to market 20,000 units in the
initial year and boost sales volume to 50,000 units in the second
year.
