Fountain PD

Fountain PD library was launched on September 18th 1995.
Originally we were to be a demo only library but Andy Davis suggested I take on the whole range of PD titles after he had decided to concentrate on the emulation side of things.

We (Fudgepacker and Pandagirl) were based in Nottingham for three years and produced ten issues of SINCLAIR CLASSIC disczine plus the odd ropey demo. As avid demo collectors we decided to offer them in the shape of a PD library. At that point we had just under 400 titles, we now have 620+

FPD is strictly Spectrum puritanical! Titles are supplied as standard Basic/code headed files - there are no Multiface saves, +D snaps or headerless files. This is to ensure tape users (who are still in the majority) have access to all titles. My whole operation is run under Spectrums using brand new equipment (except for the Spectrums that is!)

Despite being the youngest library, we have introduced several innovations and improvements; Programs listed under specific catagories, a wealth of information on demos, free directory print outs for +D users, adult titles, strict quality control of games, creation of helpfiles for undocumented programs and a distinct lack of red tape and chest beating.

Programs can be supplied on cassette, +D 3.5" disc and specific +3 programs can be supplied on 3" disc. Other formats will be added shortly but we have no plans to support Microdrive.

Our prices are amoungst the lowest, the first six titles are free every order thence only 10p per title (for disc and tape). We request the usual SAE and media to be supplied but orders over 2 pounds will have the postage paid by us. We are strictly non-profit making.

New, old and rare titles are added on a daily basis. We have excellent contacts both home and abroad to ensure we get most programs first hand. Catalogue addition sheets are sent out on a regular basis with orders.

The second edition of our catalogue will be released during March 1996. Our main intention is to attract ex-users who still have original Spectrum hardware; turn some of that nostalgia into hands-on reality! The access to Spectrum software on the PC is excellent and I hope to be connected up to the Internet via my trusty battle-tank Compaq 386 sometime this year. Emulation is brilliant and opens up a whole new ball game but there is nothing like shaking hands without the gloves on!
