Hi-Fi
1967-74
During the late 1960s, Sinclair began to move into the consumer
market for hi-fi audio equipment. Many of his earlier products
had been designed for the audiophile electronics hobbyist,
but now a new breed of consumer had emerged: the hi-fi enthusiast,
who was more interested in listening to a ready-made system
than messing around with a soldering iron. Consequently, Sinclair
products began to appear as ready-to-use packages sold in
high-street shops alongside the usual mail order retail. This
area of activity rapidly expanded to the point where Sinclair
was a major player in the British hi-fi market.
Sinclair's hi-fi range was released over a period of about
eight years:
