Aim of the game

You are a raw recruit entering the US Marines' famed Combat School. Can you survive the gruelling tests of endurance and enter the Marine Corps?

Game play

Combat School is rather like a military version of Daley Thompson's Decathlon! There are seven different tests for you to undergo:
  1. Assault course - walls of different heights and an "arm walk". A meter at the bottom of the screen shows the muscular power you're generating.
  2. Firing range - hit at least 38 targets to qualify.
  3. "Iron man" race - run through rough country strewn with boulders, water hazards and bridges; then swim across a fast-flowing river full of logs.
  4. Firing range - hit 95 robot tanks to qualify.
  5. Arm wrestling - a man-to-man contest of bicep supremacy.
  6. Firing range - hit lots of targets and avoid hitting red ones.
  7. Unarmed combat - take on your instructor!
Failing any of these events (apart from number 5) means you have to do a physical penance - which means chin-ups! Once you have completed all the events, you must attempt a full mission, to rescue a hostage from an American embassy.

Comments

"A hugely addictive challenge of speed, strength and coordination that looks and sounds good too."

Although it's a bit short, this is still a satisfying game.
